Weapons of the left no more?
President Trump signed an executive order late Thursday ending federal funding for National Public Radio (NPR) and the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS).
Both NPR and PBS receive partial funding through the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), which conservatives have long sought to defund. The president argued that public media no longer needs taxpayer support.
“Today, the media landscape is filled with abundant, diverse, and innovative news options. Government funding of news media in this environment is not only outdated and unnecessary but corrosive to the appearance of journalistic independence,” Trump wrote in the order.
“The CPB Board shall cease direct funding to NPR and PBS, consistent with my Administration’s policy to ensure that Federal funding does not support biased and partisan news coverage,” he added. “The CPB Board shall cancel existing direct funding to the maximum extent allowed by law and shall decline to provide future funding.”
Congressman Brandon Gill recently spoke with CNN’s Jake Tapper about defunding NPR and PBS.
The rescissions package to defund NPR & PBS could not come any sooner.

Gill also recently grilled NPR’s CEO, Katherine Maher, during a hearing on the Hill in which Gill read off some very far-left X posts from the CEO.
Rep Brandon Gill: “Do you think that White people should pay reparations?”
NPR CEO: “I’ve never said that, sir.”

Fox News contributor Clay Travis weighed in on the move on X.
“Trump has ended all federal dollars for NPR and PBS. Good for him. Should have happened decades ago. The government shouldn’t be funding media outlets with taxpayer dollars. Let those media companies compete in the marketplace like everyone else. 100% the right move,” Travis posted.
