President Donald Trump is throwing cold water on hopes for a breakthrough with Iran, blasting Tehran’s latest proposal as “TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE” and signaling the high-stakes war negotiations may be headed for another dangerous stalemate.
“I have just read the response from Iran’s so-called ‘Representatives.’ I don’t like it — TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!” Trump wrote Sunday in a fiery post on TRUTH Social.

The sharp rejection came after Iran reportedly sent Washington a lengthy multipage proposal through Pakistani mediators aimed at ending the ongoing conflict and easing tensions in the region.
But according to reports, Tehran failed to address one of the administration’s core demands: advance commitments on dismantling key parts of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and surrendering enriched uranium stockpiles.
Trump has repeatedly insisted that any final agreement must permanently limit Iran’s nuclear ambitions and ensure the regime cannot quickly restart weapons-grade uranium enrichment.
Instead, Iran’s latest proposal reportedly focused heavily on demands for the United States to end its blockade of Iranian ports and lift crushing economic sanctions imposed during the conflict.
On Monday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry pushed back against criticism from Washington and argued Tehran was merely seeking recognition of what it described as its lawful rights.
“We did not demand any concessions — the only thing we demanded was Iran’s legitimate rights,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said Monday.
“The American side still insists on its one-sided views and unreasonable demands,” he added.
