With omicron cases up in the U.S., Dr. Anthony Fauci’s television appearances are up as well. Fauci dropped by CNN’s State of the Union to strongly encourage vaccinated Americans to only dine with other vaccinated and boosted Americans.
“How should vaccinated and boosted people behave? Can they go into a restaurant [and] eat safely indoors right now?” Dana Bash asks Fauci.
“We are seeing people who are vaccinated and boosted getting breakthrough infections…if you want to do things like that, better do them in the setting where you know the people around you are vaccinated and boosted,” Fauci says.
While 62 percent of Americans qualify as “fully vaccinated” under the CDC’s current definition (two doses), only a third of those people have had a booster dose, including 58 percent of people 65 years and older, according to CDC data.
