A viral video and a swift corporate response collided this week, ending in termination.
UnitedHealthcare confirmed it has fired a staffer after a TikTok surfaced showing the woman expressing apparent disappointment that President Donald Trump survived Saturday’s shooting attempt.
The woman, identified as Alison King, appeared in the clip reacting to early reports of the incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
“Aww, they missed?” she said sarcastically in the video.
King went on to describe her initial reaction as skepticism, saying she believed the event was “probably fake,” before repeating her remark about the failed attack. She later added, “That’s when you know we’re cooked,” reflecting on what she described as her own reaction.
The video quickly circulated online, triggering backlash and prompting questions about her employment.
UnitedHealthcare moved quickly.
“Violence is never acceptable and any comments that suggest otherwise are in no way consistent with our mission and values,” a company spokesperson said in a statement. “The person who made comments online about Saturday night’s incident … is no longer employed by the company.”
