Texas Senate hopeful Beto O’Rourke’s campaign is riding high heading into the 2018 midterm elections; smashing all fundraising records and raking-in over $38 million in just three months in his efforts to replace Sen. Ted Cruz.
According to Dallas News, the progressive candidate “raised an astonishing $38.1 million in three months, as Democrats in Texas and nationwide showered him with donations for his bid to oust Sen. Ted Cruz.
The funds surpassed all previous records for fundraising donations in Senate history.
The whopping $38 million is more than triple the cash raised by Cruz in the same period; with the sitting Senator taking in $12 million.
“The people of Texas in all 254 counties are proving that when we reject PACs and come together not as Republicans or Democrats but as Texans and Americans, there’s no stopping us,” O’Rourke said.

TIGHT IN TEXAS: New Poll Shows Beto O’Rourke Taking the Lead Over Ted Cruz
A new poll published Wednesday shows Democrat Beto O’Rourke with a razor thin edge over Sen. Ted Cruz in the high-stakes showdown in Texas; raising serious questions over whether the GOP can retain control of Congress this November.
According to a new survey from Reuters, O’Rourke leads Cruz by just two points with a slight edge of 47% to 45%. The poll contains a margin of error of four percentage points.
The Reuter’s poll defies a similar study released by Quinnipiac University on Tuesday that showed Cruz opening a wide 9-point advantage over O’Rourke.
“Larry Sabato, director of the U.Va. Center for Politics, said Cruz’s feuds with Trump during the 2016 presidential election tarnished his reputation with some Texas Republicans,” writes the Washington Examiner.
The President announced his plans to campaign for Cruz in the weeks leading up to the 2018 midterms; vowing to stump for his former rival to help retain control of the Senate this November.
CRUZIN' AHEAD: New Poll Shows Ted Cruz with 9% Lead over Democratic Challenger
A new poll from Quinnipiac University shows Texas Sen. Ted Cruz opening a slight lead over Democratic challenger Beto O’Rourke in recent days; easing GOP concerns over whether the former presidential hopeful can hang on to his seat.
Despite the popular Democrat closing the gap in recent months, Cruz now holds a 54% to 45% advantage over O’Rourke according to the new survey; opening a 9% advantage just weeks before Texans head to the voting booth.

“The Texas U.S. Senate race between Sen. Ted Cruz and Congressman Beto O’Rourke, and Democratic hopes for an upset win there, have boosted talk of a Senate takeover. These numbers may calm that talk,” said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll. “Congressman O’Rourke may be drawing big crowds and media attention, but Texas likely voters like Sen. Cruz better.”
