'They Are Laughing at Us': Cotton Says Biden's Iran Retaliation a Joke

Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton reacted to President Biden’s “self-defense strikes” on two facilities in eastern Syria that were meant to be a retaliation for Iran’s attacks on U.S. troops in the Middle East.

But Cotton says bombing Iranian proxies isn’t sending a strong enough message.

“Retaliation against expendable proxies—especially unoccupied proxy warehouses—merely validates Iran’s strategy to use proxies to attack Americans,” Cotton said on X, adding “They are laughing at us in Tehran. Iran will continue to target Americans until President Biden gets serious about imposing severe costs on Iran.”

Cotton has hit the Biden Administration hard in recent weeks for appeasing the number one funder of terrorism in the Middle East, Iran. The Arkansas Senator blasted Joe for the $6 billion handed over to the Iranians in a hostage swap earlier this year.

“Iran is the world’s worst state sponsor of terrorism,” Cotton said earlier this month on Fox & Friends. “Hamas wouldn’t exist in the scale and the brutality that it does without Iran’s support. And President Biden just last month freed up $6 billion to Iran to use.”

Cotton continued: “Now, it may be the case that it hasn’t been released yet or it’s being held offshore, but that obviously emboldened Iran, that America would pay ransom for five American hostages, and it freed up $6 billion of their own money to continue to support groups like Hamas and Hezbollah.”
