Virginia’s new AG Jason Miyares stopped by Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle to discuss the changes his state can expect under the new Republican leadership. Miyares’ message: there’s a new sheriff in town.
“What we saw in Virginia, and a big reason why we won is that we had a criminal-first-victim-last mindset in Richmond,” Miyares says. “We had one party, far-left, liberal monopoly that has been in control for two years and they passed a series of laws and they made Virginians less safe, less secure. They voted to end the mandatory reporting requirement of sexual assault in schools; they tried to end mandatory minimums for even second offense, dealing drugs to a child at a school or a bus stop. You know, reducing from a felony to a misdemeanor assaulting a police officer. You layer on top of that, a lot of these far-left special interests, they call themselves ‘justice prosecutors,’ but they, conveniently never mention justice for the victims, that are deciding not to prosecute wholesale crimes, in particular, in northern Virginia.”
Similar to Miyares’ message, the newly-sworn in Governor of Virginia Glenn Youngkin got right to work on his changes, signing 11 Executive Orders, including a ban on CRT.
“Political indoctrination has no place in our classrooms,” Youngkin said in his executive order, adding that “inherently divisive concepts, like critical race theory and its progeny, instruct students to only view life through the lens of race and presumes that some students are consciously or unconsciously racist, sexist, or oppressive, and that other students are victims.”
Sounds like we can expect significant changes state-wide as newly-elected GOP officials pull Old Dominion back from the fringe of the far-left.
