Trump will be sentenced 10 days before his inauguration…

According to a New York Post report, New York Judge Juan Merchan has denied President-elect Donald Trump’s request to dismiss his NYC hush-money case and has instead set a sentencing date of January 10.

Merchan wrote in the highly-anticipated decision that he was inclined to sentence Trump to “unconditional discharge” — meaning no imprisonment, fines or probation supervision, NYP reports.

“A sentence of an unconditional discharge appears to be the most viable solution to ensure finality and allow Defendant to pursue his appellate options,” the 18-page ruling reads.

“Finding no legal impediment to sentencing and recognizing that Presidential immunity will likely attach once Defendant takes his Oath of Office, it is incumbent upon this Court to set this matter down for the imposition of sentence prior to January 20, 2025,” Merchan wrote.

“It is this Court’s firm belief that only by bringing finality to this matter will all three interests be served.”

Florida Senator Rick Scott reacted to the news on X, saying “President Trump won overwhelmingly last November and was given a mandate by the American people to fix the mess being left by the Democrats. We must end this lawfare that undermines the will of the American people.”
