Recently sworn-in Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez defended her Democratic colleague Ilhan Omar Thursday afternoon; saying the GOP was “weaponizing her faith” after she came under fire for comments regarding the 9/11 terror attacks.
“I’m not going to quote the NY Post’s horrifying, hateful cover. Here’s 1 fact: @IlhanMN is a cosponsor of the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund. She‘s done more for 9/11 families than the GOP who won’t even support healthcare for 1st responders- yet are happy to weaponize her faith,” posted Ocasio-Cortez on social media.

Omar found herself the center of another national controversy this week after she referred to the devastating September 11th terror attacks that took the lives of thousands of Americans as “some people” who “did something.”
“The fact that people are taking those words out of context and endangering the life of Rep. Omar is immoral, it’s wrong and it needs to be called out by many colleagues in saying they need to stop, stop targeting her this way. It’s absolutely putting her life in danger,” said Rep. Rashida Tlaib.
BACKLASH BUILDS: Ilhan Omar Refers to 9/11 Terror Attacks as ‘Some People’ Who ‘Did Something’
Rep. Ilhan Omar found herself at the center of another national controversy this week after footage emerged of the freshman Democrat referring to the devastating 9/11 terror attacks as “some people” who “did something.”
“CAIR was founded after 9/11 because they recognize that some people did something and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties,” said Omar while speaking with supporters.

BAD COMPANY: Farrakhan Defends Ilhan Omar’s Anti-Semitic Rant, Rails Against ‘Wicked Jews’
Nation of Islam leader and notorious anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan publicly praised embattled Rep. Ilhan Omar Sunday; saying she “has nothing to apologize for” after promoting vicious stereotypes on social media.
“The wicked Jews want to use me to break up the women’s movement,” Farrakhan said during his annual Saviours’ Day event. “It ain’t about Farrakhan; it’s about women all over the world [who] have the power to change the world.”
Farrakhan then defended Omar’s twitter tirade; saying “Ms. Omar from Somalia – she started talking about ‘the Benjamins’ and they are trying to make her apologize. Sweetheart, don’t do that. Pardon me for calling you sweetheart, but you do have a sweet heart. You sure are using it to shake the government up, but you have nothing to apologize for,” Farrakhan said. “Israel and AIPAC pays off senators and congressmen to do their bidding, so you’re not lying, so if you’re not lying. Stop laying down. You were sent there by the people to shake up that corrupt House.”
