Here Comes Oversight!

THE DOCTOR IS IN ... TROUBLE: Biden White House Doc Arrives for Closed-door Deposition, Pleads the Fifth: Report

According to a Fox News report, former President Joe Biden’s White House doctor, Kevin O’Connor, arrived on the Hill for a closed-door deposition on Wednesday.

The House Oversight Committee is demanding answers from President Biden’s former doctor, who has so far refused to address questions about doctor-patient confidentiality or Biden’s mental state.

With the White House waiving executive privilege, it’s now harder for him to avoid testifying by claiming his conversations with the president were protected.

From Fox News:

O’Connor’s lawyers warn that testifying could violate doctor-patient confidentiality and risk his medical license. GOP Sen. Roger Marshall, a physician, said both sides have valid concerns, but the committee called it a stall tactic and warned that no-showing could lead to contempt charges.

Republicans want to know what tests were done—and whether Biden’s inner circle pressured O’Connor to say he was fit for office.

Jill Biden’s so-called “work husband,” Anthony Bernthal, has been subpoenaed after backing out, with top insiders—Ron Klain, Steve Ricchetti, and Ashley Williams—next in line.

So far, the committee has held just one interview — with former Domestic Policy Director Neera Tanden, who said she was authorized to use the autopen but didn’t know who in the president’s inner circle gave the final green light.

UPDATE FROM THE NEW YORK POST:

Dr. O’Connor pleaded the Fifth Amendment,” House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) revealed after the doctor’s swift departure.

According to Comer, O’Connor — Biden’s longtime personal physician — was asked:

  • “Were you ever told to lie about the president’s health?”
  • “Did you ever believe President Biden was unfit to execute his duties?”

The only question O’Connor answered before the deposition concluded was confirming his name, according to an Oversight spokesperson, who pointed out doctor-patient privilege would have allowed the witness to answer at least some questions.

“This is unprecedented, and I think that this adds more fuel to the fire that there was a cover-up,” Comer declared.
