THE BIDEN ECONOMY: Only 4% of Americans Say the Economy is 'Excellent'

According to new polling from The Economist/YouGov, only 4% of Americans say the economy is in “excellent” shape. The survey, taken July 23-26, 2022, asked respondents “how would you describe the current state of the American economy?”

4% said “Excellent.” 13% said “Good.” The rest —bad for Biden.

“The vast majority have a more negative view of the current economic state of affairs, as a majority, 51 percent, view the current state of the economy as ‘poor.’ Over a quarter, 28 percent, describe it as ‘fair,’ Breitbart reports.

“A majority of both independents and Republicans, 54 percent and 73 percent, respectively, consider the state of the economy to be ‘poor.’  While a plurality of Democrats, 41 percent, describe it as ‘fair,’ another 27 percent agree that it is ‘poor’ as well. Just seven percent of Democrats consider the economy to be in ‘excellent’ condition. Perhaps what is more, only five percent of Biden 2020 voters consider the economy to be ‘excellent,’ Breitbart continues.

President Biden said this week he doesn’t believe the economy is in a recession and that it’s “no surprise” that it is “slowing down.”

“Coming off of last year’s historic economic growth – and regaining all the private sector jobs lost during the pandemic crisis – it’s no surprise that the economy is slowing down as the Federal Reserve acts to bring down inflation,” Biden said in a statement Thursday. “But even as we face historic global challenges, we are on the right path and we will come through this transition stronger and more secure.”
