President Donald Trump on Friday delivered a pre-recorded address to participants in the annual March for Life demonstration in Washington, D.C.
“In 2026, as we celebrate 250 years since our founding fathers recognized the right to life in our Declaration of Independence, I want to thank every single one of you who was out on this winter day,” Trump said.
Trump noted that he became the first sitting U.S. president to attend the March for Life in 2020, saying he was “proud” to do so. He also pointed to the progress of the pro-life movement since that appearance, including the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
The president framed the pro-life cause as an ongoing fight to restore a culture that affirms life.
“This is a battle that must be fought, must be won, not only in the corridors of power, but above all, in the hearts and souls of the people,” Trump said. “That is why, under the Trump administration, we’re strongly defending religious liberty. We’re bringing back faith in America. We’re bringing back God.”
The Trump administration recently moved to expand the Mexico City Policy, a Reagan-era rule conditioning U.S. foreign aid on recipient organizations certifying they will not provide or promote abortion as a method of family planning.
According to Fox News Digital, the expanded policy would bar U.S. foreign assistance from subsidizing abortion and, in a broader move, from supporting what the administration described as gender-related and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs.
In his remarks, Trump also highlighted the launch of Trump Accounts, a program that invests $1,000 into accounts for children under age 18. Trump described the initiative as a boost for families, with the accounts designed to function as long-term investment vehicles that grow over time.
The March for Life, which typically draws large crowds, is held annually around the anniversary of Roe v. Wade.
Vice President JD Vance made his second appearance at the event this year, after also addressing the rally in 2025. His participation comes after Vance and his wife, second lady Usha Vance, recently announced they are expecting their fourth child.
