ISIS leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi is dead.
According to Fox news, al-Qurayshi was killed during a counterterroism raid by U.S. Special Operations in northwest Syria. It was the biggest raid in the country since 2019’s mission to take out ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
Pentagon press secretary John Kirby said there were no U.S. casualties. Al-Qurayshi was wearing a suicide vest that detonated during the raid, sources told Fox News.
President Biden said the raid took place “at my direction,” and he thanked the “bravery” of U.S. forces. Biden is scheduled to speak publicly about the raid Thursday morning.
