At least three House Democrats confirmed their decision to boycott President Trump’s State of the Union Address Tuesday night as the Impeachment trial in the United States Senate comes to a close.
“A third House Democrat announced plans on Monday to boycott President Trump‘s Tuesday State of the Union address, which will take place a day before the Senate is expected to acquit the president in his impeachment trial,” reports The Hill. “Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.), who also skipped Trump’s previous State of the Union addresses, said that he will not be attending the speech on Tuesday.”
“I have chosen not to dignify Trump’s parade of lies about health care, his persistent exaggeration, and his personal attacks with my attendance at this year’s State of the Union Address. His appalling performances each day continue to justify that decision, and I have no doubt tomorrow night will be more of the same — even possibly worse,” Blumenauer said in a statement.
The other two Democrats include Representatives Steven Cohen and Frederica Wilson.

BAD EDUCATION: Ilhan Omar Asks If ‘We Ever Had an Impeached President Deliver the State of the Union’
Controversial Congresswoman Ilhan Omar raised eyebrows on social media over the weekend; asking if the United States has ever had an impeached President deliver the State of the Union.
Omar apparently forgot about President Bill Clinton, who delivered his 1999 address just hours after his lawyers opened up their initial defense during his trial in the United States Senate.
“Have we ever had an impeached President, deliver the State of the Union address while he is on trial in the Senate?” pondered Omar. “Given the audience in the room will be both his prosecutors and jurors on said trial.”

BUCKLE UP: Nancy Pelosi Invites President Trump to Deliver his State of the Union Address on February 4th
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi officially invited President Trump to deliver his State of the Union Address Friday afternoon; setting the stage for a high-stakes showdown just weeks after passing Articles of Impeachment.
“In the spirit of respecting our Constitution, I invite you to deliver your State of the Union Address before a Joint Session of Congress on Tuesday, February 4th, 2020 in the Chamber of the US House of Representatives,” said Pelosi in a letter.

Nancy Pelosi’s recent strategy of withholding Articles of Impeachment from reaching the Senate hit a legal snag Friday, with analysts saying President Trump isn’t officially “impeached” until she transmits the documents.
“Pelosi, D-Calif., is apparently using the delay as leverage to extract favorable terms for a Senate trial. But Noah Feldman wrote for Bloomberg that an ‘indefinite delay’ would pose a ‘serious problem’—as impeachment only technically happens when the articles are transmitted to the Senate,” reports Fox News.
“Both parts are necessary to make an impeachment under the Constitution: The House must actually send the articles and send managers to the Senate to prosecute the impeachment. And the Senate must actually hold a trial,” Feldman wrote.
“If the House does not communicate its impeachment to the Senate, it hasn’t actually impeached the president,” he continued. “If the articles are not transmitted, Trump could legitimately say he wasn’t truly impeached at all.”
