Peach State Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was back on the House floor on Monday reintroducing her resolution to censure fellow Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) for antisemitic remarks.
“Today, I reintroduced my privileged resolution to CENSURE Rashida Tlaib for antisemitism, spreading Pro-Hamas propaganda, and inciting an illegal occupation in the Capitol complex. The House will vote this week to hold her accountable for her actions,” MTG shared on X.
“Censuring representative Rashida Tlaib for antisemitic activity and sympathizing with terrorist organizations,” MTG started when introducing the resolution. “Whereas in May 2019, Rashida Tlaib said that she celebrated the Holocaust and said she had a calming feeling when thinking about the genocide of millions of Jews.”
MTG has updated her resolution to remove mentions of the word “insurrection,” as many fellow GOP Reps found it difficult to vote for the censure with that accusation.
Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) initially voted “no” last week and offered an explanation as to why.
“Rep. Rashida Tlaib has repeatedly made outrageous remarks toward Israel and the Jewish people. Her conduct is unbecoming of a member of Congress and certainly worthy of condemnation — if not censure,” Roy began in a statement provided Wednesday to Fox News Digital.
“However, tonight’s feckless resolution to censure Tlaib was deeply flawed and made legally and factually unverified claims, including the claim of leading an ‘insurrection.’”
