STOP SANCTUARY CITIES! Noem Unloads After CBP Agent Shot by Illegal Migrant, 'Zero Reason This Scum of the Earth Should Be Running Loose in NYC' [WATCH]

During a Monday press briefing, DHS Secretary Kristi Nome provided an update on the illegal migrant who shot an off-duty Border Patrol agent in New York City over the weekend.

The agent was shot during an attempted robbery by two suspects — one has a rap sheet that is “a mile long,” Noem said, including kidnapping and witness intimidation.

The off-duty officer was allegedly struck in the face and forearm in Manhattan’s Riverside Park on Saturday night. Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez, a Dominican national who was caught by Border Patrol in April 2023, was taken into custody following the shooting.

“There’s absolutely zero reason that someone who is scum of the earth like this should be running loose on the streets of New York City,” Noem said.

Both suspects have been arrested, according to Noem.

“We were able to bring the second individual in and have detained him as well, and he will face consequences and hopefully strong prosecution for his crimes and his involvement on Saturday night,” she added.

Noem identified that suspect as Christhian Aybar-Berroa, an illegal immigrant from the Dominican Republic who “entered the country illegally in 2022 under the Biden Administration and was ordered for final removal in 2023 by an immigration judge.”

The DHS Secretary also blasted sanctuary city mayors.

“How many more lives will it take? How many more people have to be hurt and victimized before we have public safety be a number one priority in some of our largest cities?” Nome asked. “When I see what Mayor Adams has done to New York City, it breaks my heart.”

Over the weekend, the two suspects — one an illegal alien — shot the federal immigration officer during an apparent attempted robbery.

The officer is in stable condition and hospitalized, DHS said in a social media post.

“On the evening of July 19, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer was shot in what looks like an attempted robbery,” DHS posted on X. “The officer, who was off duty at the time, is currently in the hospital in stable condition. One of the alleged perpetrators was an illegal alien with prior arrests for felony 2nd and 3rd degree assault and an order of deportation.”
