According to a New York Post report, the European Union’s Commission, the biggest donor to Palestinians, has suspended all funding in the wake of Hamas’ assault on Israel that killed hundreds of innocents.
It was the most horrific attack in over 50 years.
Neighborhood and Enlargement Commissioner Oliver Varhelyi shared the news on X.
“The scale of terror and brutality against Israel and its people is a turning point,” Varhelyi said. “There can be no business as usual.”
“All payments immediately suspended. All projets under review. All new budget proposals, incl. for 2023 until further notice. Comprehensive assessment of the hole portfolio,” Varhelyi promised.
The foundations for peace, tolerance and co-existence must now be addressed.
Incitement to hatred, violence and glorification of terror have poisoned the minds of too many.
We need action and we need it now.— Oliver Varhelyi (@OliverVarhelyi) October 9, 2023
The move will freeze approximately $728 million dollars for Palestine.
