Seriously — someone check on him.
Democratic strategist James Carville staged a mock election-night broadcast in a Politicon video Friday, acting out a fictional 2026 midterm scenario in which Republicans suffer sweeping losses.
The video, posted to Politicon’s YouTube channel, featured Carville pretending to anchor an election broadcast while speaking with imaginary correspondents about hypothetical returns.
“Good evening and welcome to election night, November, the year 2026. This is your host James Carville with the YouTube Politicon Network, and we’ll be covering elections tonight,” Carville said. “We’re going to start with the East Coast. The returns are starting to pour in … First, I want to go to Maine, our correspondent on the ground’s in Portland, Maine right now, Pauliana Cassandra.”
Carville played both host and correspondent as he imagined early returns showing Republican Sen. Susan Collins trailing significantly.
“Paulie, how you doing tonight?’ ‘Great.’ What are you hearing out of Maine, specifically from [Republican] Senator Susan Collins? ‘She’s running 16 points behind in the early returns.’ And have you heard anything about her mood? ‘Excuse me? Her staff is describing her as, quote, concerned, unquote. Yeah, she’s concerned,’” Carville continued.
The Democratic strategist repeated the format for other battleground states. He imagined Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro winning reelection in Pennsylvania by a wide margin and predicted Democratic victories in North Carolina and Florida.
Carville also mocked Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham while describing a fictional South Carolina race against Democrat Annie Andrews.
“Oh my god. You mean Dr. Annie Andrews is going to defeat the sycophant, the pliable, the idiotic, the gross Lindsey Graham? Does that look like the case? Has anybody been able to get a quote from Senator Graham concerning tonight’s events?” Carville said, continuing the skit.
He concluded the segment by turning his fictional broadcast to the White House, describing an imagined report about Trump’s reaction to hypothetical Republican losses.
“I don’t know if this can be verified, so understand that — but he’s heard internal reports from his sources in the White House that Trump is in the Lincoln bedroom throwing feces at the wall,” the Democratic strategist said. “I know he throws ketchup at the wall, but this is the first time that we’ve had reports of him throwing actual s–t at the wall. But that seems the kind of mood he’s in.”
