White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt reacted to bombshell news this week that the DOJ charged the Southern Poverty Law Center with fraud for paying white supremacist groups $3 million dollars to stoke racial hatred.
“I saw the indictment yesterday,” Leavitt said. “I saw the acting Attorney General and the FBI Director do a press conference on it. It was quite shocking to me to learn of the egregious violations of the law that the Southern Poverty Law Center was committing. And I think it’s a story that should be on the front page of every newspaper in this country.”
“They’ve been duping their supporters and the American taxpayers for far too long,” Leavitt added.
“And that’s not our DOJ saying that — that’s a grand jury indictment saying that.”

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said the 11-count indictment, filed in federal court in Alabama, alleges the nonprofit paid at least $3 million over the past decade to eight individuals tied to extremist groups.
One organizer of the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville reportedly received about $270,000 over eight years, though the indictment does not name any of the individuals involved.
