Democratic Senator and potential 2020 candidate Elizabeth Warren doubled-down on her widely-panned DNA publicity stunt over the weekend; saying the test was meant to rebuild “trust” in the American government.
Warren was pressed on her DNA results during a debate with GOP candidate Geoff Diehl; claiming she publicly released the report to “rebuild confidence through transparency.”
“So anybody can take a look. … I believe one way that we try to rebuild confidence is through transparency,” she added.

Diehl fired-back at Warren moments later, adding the issue “is not about Sen. Warren’s ancestry, it’s about integrity in my mind, and I don’t care whether you think you benefited or not from that claim, it’s the fact that you tried to benefit from that claim that I think bothers a lot of people and it’s something you haven’t been able to put to rest since the 2012 campaign.”
LINDSEY’S LINEAGE: Sen. Graham to Take DNA Test, Predicts He Can ‘BEAT’ Warren
Sen. Lindsey Graham weighed-in Tuesday on Elizabeth Warren’s recent DNA results; saying he plans to take a similar test in the coming days to see if he too possesses Native American ancestry in his family tree.
Graham was speaking with Fox News when he mocked Warren’s claims; adding “I’ve been told my grandmother was part Cherokee Indian. It may all just be talk, but you’re going to find out in a couple of weeks.”

“I’m going to take a DNA test. I’ve been told my grandmother was part Cherokee Indian. It may all just be talk, but you’re going to find out in a couple of weeks. I’m going to take this test,” Graham said on Fox & Friends.
“I didn’t really think much about it. But if she’s less than one tenth of one percent, I think I can beat her,” he added.
IT’S OFFICIAL: Elizabeth Warren Releases Results of Full DNA Test
Firebrand Senator and potential 2020 candidate Elizabeth Warren officially released her DNA results Monday morning; effectively ending years of speculation surrounding her unsubstantiated claims of her Native American ancestry.
Warren sent the report to the Boston Globe that provides “strong evidence” she has at least one Native American ancestor in her family tree “dating back 6 to 10 generations.”
“Warren, whose claims to Native American blood have been mocked by President Trump and other Republicans, provided the test results to the Globe on Sunday in an effort to defuse questions about her ancestry that have persisted for years. She planned an elaborate rollout Monday of the results as she aimed for widespread attention,” writes the Globe.
The test -conducted by Carlos Bustamante of Stanford University- concludes that the “vast majority” of the Senator’s DNA comes from European descent but adds “the results strongly support the existence of an unadmixed Native American ancestor.”
