A spokesperson for Kamala Harris confirmed to Fox News on Friday that President Donald Trump has revoked the former vice president’s Secret Service protection.
The spokesperson said no reason was provided. A senior White House official told Fox News Digital that former vice presidents traditionally receive protection for only six months after leaving office.
According to a source briefed on the matter, the decision to revoke Harris’ detail was made Thursday, with the Secret Service notified the same day.
Before leaving office, former President Joe Biden signed an executive memorandum extending Harris’ protection for an additional year beyond the usual six months. Trump rescinded that order Thursday, and Harris’ Secret Service coverage will officially end on Sept. 1.
The move comes just weeks before Harris is scheduled to launch a tour for her upcoming book “107 Days” in late September, with stops planned in New York City, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles.
