President Biden’s own party continues to abandon him.
According to a recent New York Times/Siena College poll, 64 percent of Democrats don’t want Joe Biden to run for the White House again in 2024 —not a big surprise as only about one-third of Americans approve of the job he’s doing.
From The Daily Wire:
The Times wrote that public concern about the economy and inflation “helped turn the national mood decidedly dark” both on Biden and the direction of the nation. The findings showed that the nation’s growing pessimism “spans every corner of the country, every age range and racial group, cities, suburbs and rural areas, as well as both political parties,” the Times wrote.
The poll also found that just 13% of those surveyed think the nation was on the right track. That’s the lowest point in Times’ polling since the financial crisis of 2008.
In addition to Democrats, independents have also soured on Biden. More than two-thirds (69%) of independents disapprove of Biden’s job performance — with nearly half (48%) disapproving “strongly.”
At 79, Biden is already the oldest president in U.S. history —and the mainstream media is starting to catch on. This weekend, The New York Times wrote an article that put Biden’s age and demanding schedule in the spotlight.
“I do feel it’s inappropriate to seek that office after you’re 80 or in your 80s,” said David Gergen, a top adviser to multiple presidents. “I have just turned 80 and I have found over the last two or three years I think it would have been unwise for me to try to run any organization. You’re not quite as sharp as you once were.”
Former Trump aide Kellyanne Conway spoke about the poll to Fox News.
KELLYANNE CONWAY: This New York Times poll is devastating. 33 percent approve of Joe Biden, but 64 percent of Democrats want, ‘someone else.’ They have concluded Joe Biden is not even trying to be a good president. They’re whistling right past him and note how these Democrats are not saying off-the-record or on-the-record. And, you know what? Let’s just let Kamala take over now. Thanks for elevating her and making history with her. We’d like the vice president to step in. Seems like they’d look past her, too. You have governors in California and Illinois — these high tax, high regulation states — that hate school choice, did a terrible job all through the pandemic, spend way too much money and yet they think they should be running against Joe Biden. In that same New York Times poll, I dug a little bit deeply this morning, 94 percent of Democrats under the age of 30 say they want someone other than Joe Biden. They favored Joe Biden, 60 to 30 in the last presidential election. He did five points better among young people under 30 than Hillary did four years earlier, so this is devastating.
Watch the clip above. Continue reading over at The New York Times:
NEW: Joe Biden’s approval rating is at 33% and he is facing alarming doubt about his future from Democrats.
Age was top concern as 64% of Dems say they prefer a different nominee in ‘24, including 94% of those under 30.
