ROE 'EGREGIOUSLY WRONG FROM THE START': GOP Lawmakers React to SCOTUS Leak, Call for Investigation

While members of GOP are happy with the potential overturning of Roe v. Wade, they are not happy with how the information found its way to Politico —an opinion has never leaked to the public. Prominent Republican voices are calling for an investigation.

“The Supreme Court & the DOJ must get to the bottom of this leak immediately using every investigative tool necessary. In the meantime, Roe was egregiously wrong from the beginning & I pray the Court follows the Constitution & allows the states to once again protect unborn life,” Senator Tom Cotton (R-AK) tweeted.

“If this report is true, this is nothing short of a massive victory for life and will save the lives of millions of innocent babies,” Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) tweeted. “But while I continue to wait for the Supreme Court’s ultimate opinion, I am appalled by the shocking breach of trust posed by this leak.”

“Given the apparently coordinated nature of this hit on the Court, I certainly hope every Democrat Senator is ready to answer whether they saw the opinion before Politico published it, and if they know who leaker is,” Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) tweeted.

“I have no doubt that the Chief Justice will work to root out the radical activist that betrayed the sacred tradition of the court. The leaker must be immediately removed from their position and exiled from the legal community,” Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) said.

In his now leaked majority opinion, Justice Samuel Alito writes “We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled. It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”
