Demonstrators in downtown Chicago reportedly disrupted the Police Department’s radio system over the weekend; blasting loud music while officers attempted to respond to violence and looting across the city.
“Protesters in downtown Chicago on Saturday were able to disrupt police communications so as to prevent police from responding properly, a source said,” reports CBS Chicago. “CBS 2’s Dorothy Tucker reported protesters put police radio frequencies on the internet, and when police attempted to talk to each other, they heard music. That was one reason the property damage and violence was so sporadic, the source said.”
“Tucker also asked the source why the unrest was so severe compared with any past protest in recent memory. The answer was that police seemed to have much more control and a plan on other occasions,” adds the website.

BACKLASH: NYPD Union Blasts De Blasio, Says Mayor’s Daughter an ‘Object-Throwing Rioting Anarchist’
The NYPD Sergeants Benevolent Association ripped New York Mayor Bill de Blasio in a now-deleted tweet Monday; calling his daughter an “object throwing rioting anarchist” after learning of her arrest late Saturday night.
“How can the NYPD protect the city of NY from rioting anarchist when the Mayors object throwing daughter is one of them. Now we know why he is forbidding Mounted units to be mobilized and keeping the NYPD from doing their jobs,” read the SBA tweet.
Bill de Blasio said he was “proud” of his daughter after the 25-year-old was reportedly arrested in Manhattan for blocking traffic during citywide protests in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd.
“We asked her to recount the whole story. I love my daughter deeply, I honor her. She only wants to do good in the world. She believes a lot of change is needed. I’m proud of her that she cares so much that she’s willing to go out there and do something about it,” said de Blasio.
“She was acting peacefully. She believes that everything she did was in the spirit of respectful protest… I’ll let her speak for herself, but I admire that she was out there trying to change something that she thought was unjust,” he added.

“Every American should be outraged by the murder of George Floyd,” Bowser said. “I want to implore D.C. residents to think of ways to be part of the solution, not part of the destruction.”
