Thomas Jefferson’s hometown of Charlottesville, Virginia will no longer celebrate the Founding Father’s birthday; citing his long-known history of owning slaves throughout his life.
“City officials voted to scrap the holiday in honor of the slave-owning third president of the United States and instead adopted Liberation and Freedom Day, to be celebrated each March 3. The holiday commemorates the day U.S. Army forces arrived in Virginia in 1865, near the end of the Civil War, the Washington Times reported,” reports Fox News.
“The city council’s decision came just days after James Fields Jr., the 22-year-old driver convicted of killing a woman and injuring dozens of other people at the ‘Unite the Right’ rally in Charlottesville in 2017, was sentenced to life behind bars,” adds Fox.
“The vote to end the Jefferson holiday is just the latest of several setbacks for the Founding Father’s legacy in recent months,” concludes the report. “In March, some students at Hofstra University near New York City called for the removal of a Jefferson statue from the campus, claiming Jefferson represents racism and slavery.”

Hannity: Here's What the Media Got Wrong About Charlottesville
Speaking during his opening monologue on ‘Hannity’ Wednesday night, Sean ripped the destroy-Trump media over their non-stop efforts to smear President Trump as a “racist” and “bigot” following the events in Charlottesville; ignoring the President’s repeated denunciations of the KKK and other hate groups.
“The destroy-Trump media has worked themselves into a frenzy over the President’s comments about the chaos in Charlottesville,” said Sean. “The President condemned -over and over again- the KKK, Neo-Nazis, white supremacists, other hate groups but he also laid out some of the facts about what happened.”
“Whether we like it or not, the first amendment does protect even hate speech. That’s why even the ACLU defended these white supremacists and their right to say what they want to say,” he added. “You are not allowed in America under the rule of law to get into fist fights, to punch people, engage in fighting because you don’t like what they say.”
Hannity went on to slam the mainstream media over their continuing narrative that the President is secretly supporting these extremist organizations, all for the sake of derailing his administration.
“Despite those facts, the media is living in an alternative universe. Why? Because all they want to do is destroy the President,” said Sean. “The ideological media in this country is creating a massive information crisis for the American people.”
“This dishonesty from the media is beyond despicable, so unfair for the American people. They are doing you a great disservice. Charlottesville is only the latest perfect example. Let me remind the media, President Trump has denounced, again and again, in the strongest terms possible, as he should, these white supremacists,” he added.

Hannity: Mainstream Media Using Charlottesville to Smear Conservatives
During his opening monologue on ‘Hannity’ Monday night, Sean slammed the mainstream media’s attempts to smear President Trump and fellow conservatives as racists and bigots following the weekend’s deadly protests in Charlottesville, Virginia.
“What we saw take place in Charlottesville, Virginia over the weekend… it is disgusting, it is despicable, and it’s really hard to imagine, in this day and age, that there are actually people out there that could do this to their fellow human beings,” said Hannity. “There’s no place in this country for neo-Nazis, fascists, white supremacists, and what they stand for should be condemned in the widest terms possible by all good people in this country.”
Sean ripped the destroy-Trump media for using the demonstrations as an excuse to attack the President, falsely claiming he failed to condemn white supremacists and other hate groups.
“Instead of covering this horrible situation fairly, openly, honestly […] over the weekend we saw the destroy-Trump establishment media go into a feeding frenzy trying to assign blame as quickly as possible and of course to paint the President, all conservatives, all republicans, as racists and bigots,” said Sean.
“President Trump is not a racist. Conservatives […] are not racists. The country is filled with people that are good, honorable, and decent,” he added. “Nobody is saying racism doesn’t exist. It does exist in this country, it’s sad. But if we’re going to be fair and honest this is not exclusive to one particular party.”
“The media’s never going to be satisfied with anything the President says or does, because it’s not part of their ideology or narrative. They want to paint the President, conservatives, republicans as racists and bigoted by ignoring what he said this weekend,” said Hannity.
