A group of more than 2,600 Central American migrants arrived in Mexico City this week; forcing Mexican Marines to provide food, shelter, and healthcare to the potential asylum seekers as they make their way north towards the US border.
“As dawn breaks at an outdoor sports stadium here, Mexican Marines are busy cooking beef, eggs and beans for the 2,673 migrants that have arrived here,” writes Fox News. “More are expected to arrive this week.”
“Upon arrival, they receive blankets, shelter, heath care, sanitary amenities and hot meals. They are housed in three massive tents inside the sports complex, are protected by around the clock security and have access to a soccer field and playground,” adds the author.
Mexican authorities are currently offering the migrants ‘Temporary Asylum’ that would permit them to remain in the country for a maximum of one year.

REPORT: US Tracking THIRD Migrant Caravan, Estimated at 12,000 People
The United States government is now tracking a third migrant caravan making its way north from Central America; saying the latest group contains approximately 12,000 potential asylum seekers.
“The U.S. government is tracking three separate migrant caravans, one of them estimated to be more than 12,000 people in size, heading north toward the U.S,” reports the Washington Times. “Defense Undersecretary for Policy John Rood told Congress that those caravans are one reason why the presence of active-duty troops is still needed on the U.S.-Mexico border.”
The report comes as Mexican officials rapidly prepare for a second caravan to arrive in Tijuana in the coming weeks; stretching already thin supplies and funds as thousands of migrants stall throughout northern Mexico.

BORDER CRISIS: Federal Agents Detained 27,518 Migrants in December Alone
President Trump highlighted the escalating crisis occurring along the US-Mexico border during his prime-time speech Tuesday night, with new data showing federal agents detained 27,518 migrants in December alone.
“Border Patrol agents apprehended 27,518 members of family units in December, the highest monthly total on record. That figure has steadily been climbing now for five months,” writes USA Today.
“Those caravan members, most of whom have been trying to exercise their legal right to request asylum in the U.S., contributed to a third straight month of more than 60,000 migrants being detained at U.S. ports of entry and arrested in the vast stretches of border in between,” adds the article.
Leading Democrats Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer flat-out refused to acknowledge the national security issue along the southern border Tuesday; saying President Trump had “manufactured a crisis” and was “stoking fear” for political purposes.
