Outspoken GOP Senator Rand Paul publicly praised President Trump’s decision to revoke former CIA Director John Brennan’s security clearance this week; saying the Obama official “participated in a shredding of constitutional rights.”
Paul’s office released the scathing statement Wednesday afternoon just hours after Trump officially stripped Brennan’s credentials.
“I applaud President Trump for his revoking of John Brennan’s security clearance. I urged the President to do this. I filibustered Brennan’s nomination to head the CIA in 2013, and his behavior in government and out of it demonstrate why he should not be allowed near classified information. He participated in a shredding of constitutional rights, lied to Congress, and has been monetizing and making partisan political use of his clearance since his departure,” says the statement.
Paul advocated for the removal of Brennan’s clearance in July, accusing the former CIA director of “monetizing” his access to top secret material.
Today I will meet with the President and I will ask him to revoke John Brennan’s security clearance!

RAND’S STAND: Sen. Paul Trashes ‘BIGOTED, BIASED, UNHINGED’ Brennan
Senator Rand Paul utterly unloaded on former CIA Director John Brennan this week, saying he was the “most biased, bigoted, over-the-top, hyperbolic, unhinged director of the C.I.A. we’ve ever had.”
Paul was speaking with Fox News when he was asked to comment on Brennan’s recent tweet that called President Trump’s Helsinki summit with Vladimir Putin “treasonous.”
“John Brennan started out his adulthood by voting for the Communist Party presidential candidate. He is now ending his career by showing himself to be the most biased, bigoted, over-the-top, hyperbolic, unhinged director of the C.I.A. we’ve ever had,” said Paul.
“It really is an insult to everything about our government, to have a former head of the C.I.A. calling the President treasonous just because he doesn’t like him. You know, I filibustered Brennan. I tried to keep Brennan from ever being the leader of the C.I.A. But realize that Brennan and Clapper are known for wanting to expand the authority of the intelligence agencies to grab up everyone’s information,” he added.
RAND’S STAND: Paul Says ‘TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME’ Has Taken Over Senate
Senator Rand Paul utterly unloaded on his Congressional colleagues Thursday, saying “Trump Derangement Syndrome” has “officially” taken over the Senate and forced his fellow legislators to prefer “war to diplomacy.”
Paul was speaking on the Senate floor when he slammed those critical of Trump’s historic Helsinki Summit, saying “hatred for the President is so intense that partisans would rather risk war than give diplomacy a chance.”
“Trump Derangement Syndrome has officially come to the Senate. The hatred for the President is so intense that partisans would rather risk war than give diplomacy a chance,” said Paul.
“Does anyone remember that Ronald Reagan sat down with Gorbachev and we lessened the nuclear tensions? We need to have those openings. Nobody is saying or excusing Russia’s meddling in our elections,” he added.
