‘Squad’ Member Ayanna Pressley doubled-down on far-left lawmakers’ recent calls for a national rent bailout this week; saying the federal government should “cancel” the monthly payment and “eliminate that worry.”
“People are trying to stay alive. Your housing is your most expensive bill… Housing is a critical determinant of health as well. Housing is the most expensive bill. They shouldn’t also be worrying about paying the rent. So, we should just cancel that and eliminate that worry,” said Pressley.

Pressley was speaking with her fellow lawmakers Tuesday when she commented on her proposal; claiming the new age requirement would help give “young people” the “opportunity to exercise their rights.”
“Young people are leading the way, which has bene the case for every social movement throughout our history. They are organizing and mobilizing and calling us to action,” said the Congresswoman.
“Young people are at the forefront of some of our most existential crises,” Pressley added. “The time has come. Our young people deserve to have the opportunity to exercise their right to vote.”
SQUAD GOALS: Rep. Pressley Says Americans ‘Deserve Healthcare, Economic, Housing Justice’
Rep. Ayanna Pressley demanded “economic and housing justice” for all Americans on the House Floor Thursday; calling the current Coronavirus pandemic a “crisis within a crisis.”
“Families are in crisis, food pantry lines are around the block, rent is due in eight days. Community health centers are desperate. This is a crisis in a crisis. This chamber will determine how many lives we are robbed of,” said Pressley.
“Our nation is crying out, the people are crying out… People are counting on us, they deserve healthcare, economic, housing justice,” she added.
This is a crisis within a crisis. And what happens in this chamber will determine just how many more lives we are robbed of.
Congress should not adjourn until we have a timeline for a bold & comprehensive Democrat led bill that meets the scale of the crisis.#PutPeopleFirst pic.twitter.com/kca2fqnte9
