PRESIDENT TRUMP: China Trade Talks Will Continue, ‘In the Meantime’ New Tariffs

posted by Hannity Staff - 5.10.19

President Trump commented Friday afternoon on his administration’s tough trade talks with China; saying negotiations will “continue into the future” but there will be new tariffs on Beijing “in the meantime.”

“Over the course of the past two days, the United States and China have held candid and constructive conversations on the status of the trade relationship between both countries. The relationship between President Xi and myself remains a very strong one, and conversations into the future will continue. In the meantime, the United States has imposed Tariffs on China, which may or may not be removed depending on what happens with respect to future negotiations!”

The President unveiled a stiff new 25% tariff on China this week after ongoing negations for a permanent trade agreement failed; vowing to remove the economic obstacles “depending on what happens.”
