PORTA-POTTY POLITICS: Maine Senate Hopeful’s Graphic Reddit History Resurfaces [CONTENT WARNING]

A resurfaced Reddit trail is giving Republicans fresh ammunition in Maine’s increasingly heated Senate race.

Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner is under fire after a series of graphic and vulgar posts tied to his now-deleted Reddit account resurfaced online, threatening to overshadow his rise as the progressive favorite in the race.

The archived comments, first highlighted through records preserved by the Maine Monitor archive and reported by Fox News Digital, include sexually explicit jokes and lengthy commentary about crude military restroom graffiti posted under the username “P-Hustle,” an account Platner has previously acknowledged belonged to him.

In a March 2017 Reddit thread discussing memorable military smells, Platner wrote: “I still have to j–k off every time I sit in a portas––er… that blue water smell conditioned me.”

Another post from March 2021 on Reddit’s r/USMC forum featured Platner describing explicit graffiti inside a portable toilet at a military base overseas in graphic detail, referring to the drawing as “beautiful,” “engorged and veiny,” and moving “towards its penetrative glory.”

“Oh s—!!!,” Platner wrote. “You’ve got the Hot Rod C— from Manas!”

The comments were reportedly tied to a discussion centered on so-called “GWOT D–k Art,” referring to crude graffiti created by troops during the Global War on Terror era.

Platner served multiple combat tours overseas after enlisting in the Marines in 2003. He later joined the Maryland Army National Guard and also worked as a security contractor in Afghanistan.

The resurfaced posts are now colliding with Platner’s rapid political ascent.

The first-time candidate emerged as Democrats’ presumptive Senate nominee after two-term Gov. Janet Mills dropped out of the race last month while trailing Platner in polling and fundraising. Platner has also drawn backing from progressive heavyweights Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.

Republicans are already signaling the comments could become a central line of attack heading into the general election.

Mehek Cooke, a GOP strategist and legal analyst for the Daily Signal, told Fox News Digital the posts raise larger questions about Platner’s judgment and temperament.

“His campaign has been built around authenticity and moral seriousness. These posts undercut both,” Cooke said “Platner is not a truth-teller. He is someone whose instincts appear crude, reckless, and deeply unserious.”

Cooke also questioned Platner’s defense that the comments were merely internet trolling or “s—posting.”

“If they were really ‘jokes,’ why delete the posts?” she said. “That sounds less like humor and more like a CYA cleanup operation.”

Platner has previously brushed off criticism surrounding the account by insisting the posts were intentionally provocative internet humor.

“It’s called s—posting,” Platner previously told Fox News Digital. “It’s when you argue with people on the internet and try to bother them.”
