POLICE CHIEF’S PLEA: Seattle PD Says Slashing Budget 50% Will Be ‘Catastrophic for Public Safety’

posted by Hannity Staff - 7.13.20

The Seattle Police Department issued a public plea on social media over the weekend; warning residents that slashing its budget by 50% would be “catastrophic” for safety and security across the city.

“While no decisions have been made yet, we wanted the community to be aware of the situation. Laying off 50% of the department would be catastrophic for public safety in the city of Seattle,” posted the Department.

“The Department has made a conscious effort to hire employees, both sworn and civilian, who represent the diversity and values within our community,” adds the Seattle PD.

“Cuts this deep mean we would lose more than 50% of our (BIPOC) officers. These officers’ life experiences make us a better department and community,” adds the Department.

ANARCHY, SEATTLE: Another ‘CHAZ’ Shooting Leaves 1 Person Dead, 1 in Critical Condition

posted by Hannity Staff - 6.29.20

Another shooting in Seattle’s ‘Autonomous Zone’ left one person dead and another in critical condition over the weekend; raising new questions over safety and security in a major American city.

“The shooting victim who arrived at the hospital at 3:30 a.m. from the CHOP area on Capitol Hill in Seattle has unfortunately died, Susan Gregg, a hospital spokeswoman, told Fox News. He was transported to the hospital via Seattle Fire Department medics,” reports Fox News.

“Officers investigating a shooting near 12 Ave/Pike Street. Reports of two people injured. More information when available,” confirmed the Police Department.

“Not every 9-1-1 call requires a police officer with a gun. That’s why Chief Best and @SeattlePD are conducting a deep review of SPD’s budget and assessing what functions could be moved to other departments or be removed entirely,” posted the Mayor on social media.

AUTONOMOUS? Seattle Zone Asks for ‘Needed Supplies’ Like Clothes, Ice, Cigarettes, Lotion, Shoes, MORE…

posted by Hannity Staff - 6.16.20

Protesters in Seattle posted a list of necessary supplies running short in the “autonomous zone” in the heart of the city; asking for everyday items like Gatorade, shoes, bedding, folding chairs, pillows, and more.

“I just want to remind all that when you create an ‘autonomous zone,’ you don’t get to demand a long list of supplies from the orderly capitalist society that you are rebelling against. Kind of defeats the meaning of ‘autonomous,’” posted Rep. Dan Crenshaw on social media.

Seattle’s embattled Police Chief had an “epiphany” over the weekend after attending George Floyd protests; saying “policing will never be the same.”

“I was looking at the 60,000 people that were there, signs saying, you know, defund the police, stop police brutality, you know, no qualified immunity. And there were thousands of people carrying those particular signs,” said Chief Carmen Best.

“And I just realized it was a moment, an epiphany, that this is a pivotal moment in history. We are going to move in a different direction and policing will never be the same as it was before,” she added.

“We need to re-imagine and re-figure out how we’re going to move forward as a country and as an organization to make things better for everybody,” she said during the interview with “Face the Nation.”
