Going viral. For the wrong reasons.
Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA), 70, strummed straight into social media infamy Wednesday with a cringeworthy rendition of “Hey Joe”—reworked as an anti-Trump ballad titled “Hey Trump.”
The longtime congressman introduced the performance with a warning: “I hate to hurt your ears.” And then did just that.
Ready for the lyrics?
“Hey, Trump. Where you going with that gun in your hand?”
“Hey, Trump. Where you going with that gun in your hand?”
“I’m going down the street to shoot democracy. You know I want to be a king someday.”
“I’m going down to shoot democracy down. You know I want to be the king someday.”
“Hey, Donald Trump. We won’t let you take our democracy down, take it down to the ground.”
A quick tuning before the performance may have helped Johnson, as well.
Anyway…
