On Monday, July 21st, our family’s world was turned upside down. Our precious 1-year-old cousin was shot in Southeast Washington, DC, in a heartbreaking and senseless act of violence.
This innocent baby girl was caught in the crossfire and is now facing a long road to recovery, including multiple surgeries and intensive medical care. Her strength is unimaginable, but she has a long battle ahead—and so does her mother.
Her mom, who is her full-time caregiver and strongest advocate, has had to step away from work indefinitely to care for her daughter around the clock. As you can imagine, the emotional toll is already overwhelming, and the financial strain is adding an extra layer of stress during this critical time.
We are asking for help and support from our community to assist with:
• Medical expenses not fully covered by insurance
• Transportation to and from the hospital
• Basic living expenses for mom while she is out of work
• Any unforeseen costs as this young family navigates recovery
