Congressional Democrats in the House of Representatives moved this week to block President Trump from using “taxpayer money” for his proposed border wall; effectively preventing the Commander-in-Chief from declaring a “national emergency” to begin construction.
“Rep. Gwen Moore, D-Wis., and five other Democrats proposed the bill, on the same day Trump vowed to build his wall one way or another,” writes the Washington Examiner.
“My bill, the No Taxpayer Funding for the Wall Act, will block the president from executing his reckless plan and force him to honor his pledge that Mexico will fund the wall,” said Moore.
“I call on both Democrats and Republicans to join me in my effort by supporting this commonsense legislation to protect the American public’s tax dollars,” she said. “We must pass this bill to ensure that President Trump can no longer hold the American people hostage.”

BORDER WALL NOW: Tell Congress to Fully Fund President Trump’s BORDER WALL Now
Congressional Democrats refused to budge on national security and the President’s proposed border wall this week; digging-in as countless Americans demand left-wing legislators take action and secure the United States’ southern border with Mexico.
“President Donald Trump is fighting to build a wall to keep us safe, but Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi are standing in the way. Enough with the partisan games. It’s time for Congress to do its job to protect our communities and support our law enforcement,” writes Border Wall Now, a group that recently launched an online petition demanding action from our lawmakers.
“Please support President Trump’s effort to fund the wall by signing the national ‘Border Wall Now’ petition. If we want to stop the Democrats from playing politics instead of protecting Americans, we need to build a grassroots army that sends them a message,” writes the organization.

BUDGET SHOWDOWN: Trump Summons GOP Leaders to White House over Border Wall
President Trump summoned congressional Republicans to the White House Thursday afternoon; throwing a major “roadblock” in their efforts to pass a “stopgap” budget deal that doesn’t include funding for his border wall.
“A potential deal on Capitol Hill to avert a government shutdown with a short-term spending measure hit a roadblock Thursday as the White House said President Trump ‘does not want to go further’ with anything that does not include sought-after funding for border security,” writes Fox News.
“The president is having a meeting with Republican House members at noon today,” White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement. “At this moment, the president does not want to go further without border security, which includes steel slats or a wall. The president is continuing to weigh his options.”
Congress must pass a budget by Friday evening or the government will immediately “shutdown” until an agreement could be reached.
