President Biden’s State of the Union Speech barely got started before Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) hit Joe for a bit of COVID misinformation.
“Thank you all very, very much. Thank you. Please. Thank you so much,” Biden started. “Madame speaker, but — madame speaker, madame vice president at our first lady and second gentleman, members of Congress and the cabinet, justices of the Supreme Court, my fellow Americans, last year, COVID-19 kept us apart. This year, we are finally together again.”
The Kentucky Senator doesn’t exactly agree that it was COVID-19 that kept everyone apart last year, and he shared his thoughts during his live tweeting of the event:
“First quibble: Covid didn’t keep us apart – petty tyrants and wrongheaded public health officials like Fauci did.”

RNC Research also hit Biden on COVID during the State of the Union, tweeting “In 2020, Biden said ‘anyone who’s responsible for [220,000 COVID] deaths should not remain as president.’ More than 500,000 Americans have died from COVID under Biden.”
