FBI Director Kash Patel said Monday investigators have found DNA evidence tying alleged assassin Tyler Robinson to the scene of last week’s fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk.
Patel, appearing on Fox & Friends, said Robinson’s DNA was recovered from both a screwdriver and a towel wrapped around the firearm believed to have been used in the killing.
“I can report today that the DNA hits from the towel that was wrapped around the firearm and the DNA on the screwdriver are positively processed for the suspect in custody,” Patel said.
Authorities say Robinson fled Utah Valley University’s campus after the shooting, jumping from a roof and running into a nearby neighborhood. The firearm, still wrapped in a towel, was found abandoned in the woods.
Robinson remains under “special watch” in Utah custody and has not cooperated with investigators during interviews, police said.
