French President Emmanuel Macron is reportedly considering a total ban on protests taking place along the famed Champs-Elysees Monday; sparking outrage from activists after another weekend of ‘Yellow Vest’ demonstrations against the government.
“French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday was reportedly considering banning ‘Yellow Vest’ protesters from demonstrating along the Champs Elysees after a number of iconic establishments were destroyed in weekend demonstrations,” reports Fox News.
Violence erupted again Saturday as the nationwide protests entered their 18th consecutive week, with residents across France furious over massive taxes and fuel shortages across the country.
Police arrested at least 100 people in Paris over the weekend; eventually using tear gas and water cannons to disperse the demonstrators.

“The resurgent violence comes at a watershed moment for a movement, which had been fizzling in recent weeks, and at the end of a two-month-long national debate called by Macron that protesters say failed to answer their demands for economic justice,” adds the report.
