OUT OF CONTROL: ‘Chunk of Concrete’ Hurled at NYPD Officers in Manhattan’s Central Park

posted by Hannity Staff - 8.07.19

NYPD officers are searching for a suspect that reportedly hurled a “chunk of concrete” at police officers during a concert in Manhattan’s iconic Central Park; arresting another man who threw glass bottles at local law enforcement.

“A sergeant was standing with other officers near the Bethesda Fountain at about 4 p.m. Sunday during a concert when the fist-sized piece of concrete smashed into a tree three feet from the cops, police sources said Monday,” reports the New York Post. “No one saw who threw the concrete. Sources said there was a large number of people in that area of the park for a concert.”

“In a separate incident, five cops were injured earlier on Sunday when a 28-year-old man chucked bottles at police as they tried to break up a party of about 100 people around 2 a.m. in the Bronx, sources said,” adds the Post.

The New York Police Department released new footage Wednesday of another attack -this time in Queens- showing police officers being doused with water.

“The most recent incident in Queens has compelled lawmakers to announce a new bill that cracks down on anyone who disrespects the badge,” reports CBS New York. “Police are on the hunt for a person caught on camera throwing water at traffic cops, who are seen just doing their jobs on a corner in Woodhaven.”

“There have been at least four separate cases in recent weeks of citizens showing contempt for officers, prompting some fed-up lawmakers to say enough is enough. They want anyone who does it to go to jail,” adds the website.

New York lawmakers introduced legislation this week that would make it a felony to douse Police Officers with water; a direct response after multiple videos went viral showing members of the NYPD attacked with buckets during the recent heatwave.

“This is disgraceful,” Assemblyman Mike LiPetri of Long Island said of the incidents. “The men and women in blue are people in our neighborhoods. Let us not forget that these officers took a sacred oath … We believe it is time that we return to a society that understands the fundamental belief in right versus wrong.”

President Trump weighed-in on the controversy last week, writing “We love our Law Enforcement Officers all around this great Country. What took place in NYC with water being tossed on NYPD officers was a total disgrace. It is time for @NYCMayor @BilldeBlasio to STAND UP for those who protect our lives and serve us all so well.”

The “tough guy” featured in a viral video spraying NYPD Officers with water was arrested in New York Thursday; with police bosses saying this type of behavior “will never be tolerated” in the Big Apple.

“The tough guy who confronted two NYPD traffic enforcement agents doing the job taxpayers want & expect them to do has been arrested. Brooklyn resident Steven Larosa, 35, is charged with Harassment and Obstructing Governmental Administration. Such behavior will never be tolerated,” posted Commissioner O’Neill on social media.

Former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani blasted Bill de Blasio last Monday after footage emerged of local teens dousing NYPD officers with buckets of water; saying this “disrespect” for uniformed police never would have happened on his watch.

“This disrespect for the uniform in NYC is result of a Democrat-Progressive (Retrogressive)-Socialist Mayor. This is what happens with knee-jerk disrespect for police. It will only get worse until these Left wing idiots are defeated,” posted Giuliani on social media.

NEW YORK'S FINEST: NYPD Arrests ‘Gang Member’ Wanted for Dousing Uniformed Officers with Water

The NYPD arrested a 28-year-old “known gang member” Wednesday after video surfaced of the man “dumping a bucket of water” on police officers; sparking outrage from former Mayor Rudy Giuliani and law enforcement officials.

“UPDATE: The 28-year-old man, a known gang member, who was wanted for dumping a bucket of water on our @NYPD73Pct cop in #Brooklyn has been arrested. Actions like we’ve seen in videos recently will NEVER be tolerated in this city. YOU WILL BE ARRESTED,” posted Chief of Department Terence Monahan.

The disturbing footage surfaced Tuesday showing New Yorkers attacking uniformed NYPD officers on patrol; prompting former Mayor Rudy Giuliani to slam Bill de Blasio as a total “disgrace.”

Footage shows separate incidents of people in Harlem and Brooklyn using buckets to splash and dump water over uniformed officers, as the cops calmly walk away,” reports Fox News.

“He’s a disgrace, and even Democrats don’t support him and are embarrassed of him,” said Giuliani.

“The way you reduce crime is to have police officers with high morale,” he added. “That uniform should be respected.”

“The videos of cops being doused with water and having objects hurled at them as they made an arrest in #Harlem is reprehensible. NYC’s cops & communities have made remarkable progress — together — but EVERY New Yorker MUST show respect for our cops. They deserve nothing less,” said NYPD Chief of Department Terence Monahan.
