President Donald Trump officially created the highly-anticipated ‘Space Command’ arm of the US military Tuesday; launching the next phase of space exploration and paving the way for a future ‘Space Force.’
“I direct the establishment, consistent with United States law, of United States Space Command as a functional Unified Combatant Command,” ordered the president in an executive memorandum sent to Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis.
“I also direct the Secretary of Defense to recommend officers for my nomination and Senate confirmation as Commander and Deputy Commander of the new United States Space Command,” added the Commander-in-Chief.
The new wing is expected to cost $800 million over the next five years.
“We’re working as we speak with leaders in both parties in Congress to stand up the United States Space Force before the end of 2020,” confirmed Vice President Pence.

STAR WARS: President Trump Expected to Launch New ‘Space Command’ in Coming Days
President Trump is expected to officially create a US military “Space Command” in the coming days; opening space and potentially other celestial bodies -including the moon- as a “war-fighting domain.”
According to the Hill, “Trump’s announcement will likely coincide with Vice President Pence visiting the Pentagon and the Kennedy Space Center in Florida this week. Pence is the chairman of the National Space Council.”
“The Space Command would align with the U.S. Central Command and Special Operations Command in stature. Those two bodies oversee military operations in the Middle East and special operations forces, respectively,” adds the Hill.
“In concert with President Trump’s vision to ensure American national security is as dominant in space as it is on Earth and in cyberspace, the Department is developing plans for the establishment of a US Space Command and a US Space Force,” Pentagon spokesman Joe Buccino told The Hill.

STAR WARS: Trump Orders Creation of ‘SPACE FORCE’ as 6th Branch of US Military
President Donald Trump officially instructed the Department of Defense to “immediately begin” the process of creating a sixth branch of the US military Monday; ordering the establishment of a “Space Force” to protect the United States from enemies across the planet and beyond.
According to CNBC, the Commander-in-Chief was speaking with reporters at the White House Monday morning when he unveiled the proposal, saying “our destiny beyond the earth is not only a matter of national identity but a matter of national security.”
“I am hereby directing the Department of Defense and Pentagon to immediately begin the process necessary to establish a Space Force as the sixth branch of the armed forces,” Trump said.
“We have the Air Force, we’ll have the space force,” Trump told reporters earlier this year.
When implemented, the Space Force will be the newest addition to the US military in over 70 years, when the Air Force was added as an official branch directly after the Second World War.
