MADURO TO USA: Venezuela’s Socialist President Jets to NYC as Citizens Starve
Venezuela’s socialist President Nicolas Maduro departed for the United States Wednesday; hoping to secure international aid for his nation’s crumbling economy during the annual meeting of the United Nations General Assembly.
The left-wing leader is expected to touch-down in New York City Wednesday evening, where he vowed to “defend the truth of Venezuela” and to “bring the voice of our Fatherland” to the United States.
“I am landing in New York to defend the truth of Venezuela, to bring the voice of our fatherland,” said Maduro.
The socialist president routinely accuses President Trump and other Western leaders of plotting to overthrow his regime.
The visit comes just hours after the White House unveiled a series of sanctions against Maduro’s wife and other top officials with the hopes of clamping down on widespread corruption.

Haley’s comments come days after Maduro was seen dining on $100 steaks and smoking lavish cigars during a recent trip to Asia to secure aid for his starving citizens.
