At least 300 members of Venezuela’s military have defected in recent days as the country’s political crisis escalates; further signaling socialist President Nicolas Maduro is gradually losing his grip on power.
“Soldiers who have sought refuge in Colombia since the weekend told the Associated Press that the catalyst for defection was the command from above to keep desperately needed humanitarian aid from their compatriots,” reports Fox News.
The crisis was sparked when Maduro refused entry to life-saving aid from the United States and other Latin American countries; blocking the supplies at the border with Colombia as millions starve across the impoverished nation.
“The only way for this government to leave, unfortunately, and all of Venezuela knows it, is for there to be a direct intervention,” said one soldier who recently fled the country. “The only one with that power is the international community.”

ANOTHER TERM: Venezuela’s Socialist President Sworn-in for SECOND SIX-Year Term
Venezuela’s socialist President Nicolas Maduro was sworn-in for his second six-year term Thursday; sparking outrage from world leaders and local activists demanding the brutal leader resign from office.
“Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro was being sworn in to a second term Thursday amid international calls for him to step down and a devastating economic crisis, but with some long-time friends in attendance both from abroad and at home,” writes the Associated Press.
“A dozen Latin American governments and Canada in a coalition have rejected the legitimacy of Maduro’s next term, and Washington has sanctioned top officials in his government,” adds the article.
Venezuela’s crumbling economy has forced millions to flee the socialist country, where recent polling shows upwards of 80% of the population struggle to find food on a daily basis.

GRAHAM ON FIRE: Sen. Graham Says Ocasio-Cortez ‘Hell Bent’ on Turning US into ‘Venezuela’
Sen. Lindsey Graham escalated his war-of-words with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Thursday; saying the Democratic-Socialist would like to spend America’s “last 12 years as Venezuelan socialists.”
“Even worse news, [Ocasio-Cortez] and her new socialist colleagues seem hell-bent on making sure that our last 12 years will be spent as Venezuelan socialists, not Americans,” tweeted Graham.
Question: Is it possible Rep. Ocasio-Cortez could be wrong about the demise of the planet in 12 years and the American people reject her socialist agenda in 2020?

The Senator was referencing Ocasio-Cortez’ comments this week that claimed the world would likely end in 12 years if the US doesn’t address climate change.
