Rep. Ilhan Omar published a scathing op-ed in the New York Times Thursday; saying America “was not what” her family had “hoped for” and labeling President Trump a “fascist” and “racist.”
“Throughout history, demagogues have used state power to target minority communities and political enemies, often culminating in state violence. Today, we face that threat in our own country, where the president of the United States is using the influence of our highest office to mount racist attacks on communities across the land,” writes Omar.
“The America we arrived in was different from the one my grandfather had hoped to find. The land of opportunity he imagined was in fact full of challenges. People identified me in ways that were foreign to me: immigrant, black. I learned that these identities carried stigmas, and I experienced prejudice as a visibly Muslim woman,” she adds.
“Our democratic institutions have been weaponized. The Trump administration has sought to restrict people from exercising their voting rights. It has sought to undermine the basic checks and balances of our Constitution by not respecting subpoenas from Congress. And the president has used overtly racist rhetoric to strike fear and division in communities of color and religious minorities across the country,” concludes the Congresswoman.

BACKLASH: Dem. Rep Who Claims Israel ‘Hypnotizes the World’ Appointed to Foreign Affairs Committee
Recently sworn-in Congresswoman Ilhan Omar has been appointed to the House Foreign Affairs Committee; sparking outrage from those familiar with her previous remarks surrounding the State of Israel.
“House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been hit with a backlash over her decision to assign freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar to the House Foreign Affairs Committee, despite the Minnesota Democrat’s record of anti-Israel advocacy,” writes the Washington Times.
“It is disgraceful that Speaker Pelosi and her Democrat majority gave a coveted seat on the House Foreign Relations Committee to a member who has a documented history of making anti-Semitic and anti-Israel remarks,” Rep. Steve Scalise said Thursday.
Omar recently defended her scathing critique of Israel; writing back in 2012 “Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel.”

BAD COMPANY: Farrakhan Defends Ilhan Omar’s Anti-Semitic Rant, Rails Against ‘Wicked Jews’
Nation of Islam leader and notorious anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan publicly praised embattled Rep. Ilhan Omar Sunday; saying she “has nothing to apologize for” after promoting vicious stereotypes on social media.
“The wicked Jews want to use me to break up the women’s movement,” Farrakhan said during his annual Saviours’ Day event. “It ain’t about Farrakhan; it’s about women all over the world [who] have the power to change the world.”
Farrakhan then defended Omar’s twitter tirade; saying “Ms. Omar from Somalia – she started talking about ‘the Benjamins’ and they are trying to make her apologize. Sweetheart, don’t do that. Pardon me for calling you sweetheart, but you do have a sweet heart. You sure are using it to shake the government up, but you have nothing to apologize for,” Farrakhan said. “Israel and AIPAC pays off senators and congressmen to do their bidding, so you’re not lying, so if you’re not lying. Stop laying down. You were sent there by the people to shake up that corrupt House.”
