OLD MAN, LOOK AT YOUR LIFE: Young Tells Spotify Employees to ‘Get Out,’ Before it ‘Eats Your Soul’

posted by Hannity Staff - 2.08.22

It wasn’t enough for Neil Young to remove his music from Spotify in protest of Joe Rogan’s content. It wasn’t even enough for Young to encourage others to follow. Nope, Young is now threatening severe soul-eating consequences to any Spotify employees who continue to work for the streaming platform.

“To the workers at SPOTIFY, I say Daniel Ek is your big problem—not Joe Rogan,” Young’s message wrote on his website. “Ek pulls the strings. Get out of that place before it eats up your soul. The only goals stated by EK are about numbers—not art, not creativity.”

“Young was evidently unimpressed with the letter that Daniel Ek, the CEO of Spotify Technology SA, sent to employees that attempted to strike a balance by supporting his top star while acknowledging employee concerns about how the podcast impacts them,” Fox Business reports

An excerpt from Ek’s message below:

“Following these discussions and his own reflections, he chose to remove a number of episodes from Spotify. He also issued his own apology over the weekend,” he added, according to the statement obtained by Fox Business. “While I strongly condemn what Joe has said and I agree with his decision to remove past episodes from our platform, I realize some will want more. And I want to make one point very clear – I do not believe that silencing Joe is the answer.”
