President Trump fired a chilling warning shot at Vladimir Putin Monday — after the Russian strongman bragged about testing an “invincible” nuclear missile capable of striking the U.S.
“They know we have a nuclear submarine, the greatest in the world, right off their shore,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One before heading to Japan.
The president’s comments came just hours after Putin hailed an 8,700-mile, 15-hour test flight of a nuclear-powered cruise missile — a weapon so unstable it’s been dubbed a “flying Chernobyl.”
“They’re not playing games with us. We’re not playing games with them either,” Trump said, before pressing Putin to “end the war in Ukraine.”
“I don’t think it’s an appropriate thing for Putin to be saying,” Trump added. “By the way, he ought to get the war ended. A war that should have taken one week is now in its, soon, fourth year.”
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky applauded Trump’s latest sanctions on Russia, calling them “a difference-maker” — but insisted the West must tighten the screws further.
“President Trump is concerned about escalation. But I think that if there are no negotiations, there will be an escalation anyway,” Zelensky told Axios. “If Putin doesn’t stop, we need something to stop him. Sanctions are one weapon — but we also need long-range missiles.”

Trump:
They know we have a nuclear submarine, the greatest in the world, right off their shores. We don’t need to go 8,000 miles.
