NOT IN THE SUNSHINE STATE: DeSantis Files Complaint Against Restaurant Exposing Kids to Drag Show

posted by Hannity Staff - 7.27.22

Drag shows for children? Not in Ron DeSantis’ Florida.

According to a report from The New York Post, Governor Ron DeSantis’ administration has filed an official complaint against a Miami restaurant that exposed children to drag shows; DeSantis says “this is wrong.”

The complaint for “lewd activity” was filed Tuesday against R House bar, located in the Wynwood area of Miami.

From The New York Post:

Submitted by the state’s Department of Business and Regulation, the complaint accuses of R House in Wynwood of hosting sexualized drag events while admitting minors.

DeSantis addressed the action Wednesday morning at an unrelated press conference, arguing that the racy spectacles are inappropriate for children.

“Having kids involved in this is wrong,” he said. “That is not consistent with our law and policy in the state of Florida. And it is a disturbing trend in our society to try to sexualize these young people. That is not the way you protect children. You look out for children.”

The restaurant has 21 days to respond; management claims there is a “misunderstanding.”

“We are aware of the complaint and are currently working with the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, through our attorney, to rectify the situation,” R House management said. “We are hopeful that Gov. DeSantis, a vociferous supporter and champion of Florida’s hospitality industry and small businesses, will see this as what it is, a misunderstanding, and that the matter will be resolved positively and promptly.”
