Out-of-control inflation is causing long lines at U.S. food banks.
According to a report from the Associated Press, more Americans are being overwhelmed by inflation and visiting food banks to make ends meet. Inflation is at a 40-year high, surging 9.1% in June, and gas prices have been going up since Biden took office.
“The food banks, which had started to see some relief as people returned to work after pandemic shutdowns, are struggling to meet the latest need even as federal programs provide less food to distribute, grocery store donations wane and cash gifts don’t go nearly as far,” AP reports.
AP spoke with Tomasina John at the St. Mary’s food bank in Phoenix, AZ; she didn’t need help before the record-breaking inflation.
“[I]t’s really impossible to get by now without some help,” said John, who carpooled to reduce gas costs. “The prices are way too high.”
“It does not look like it’s going to get better overnight,” said Katie Fitzgerald, president and chief operating officer for the national food bank network Feeding America. “Demand is really making the supply challenges complex.”

“Inflation just hit ANOTHER 40-year high of 9.1%, which is terrible for our Country,” Trump said in a statement through his Save America PAC posted to TRUTH Social. “Fuel prices up 60%, Airfare up 34%, Eggs up 33%-how can people survive this? How can businesses survive this? Our Country is so weak right now because the Radical Left Democrats have no clue what they are doing. All they want to do is ‘get Trump,’ and they are willing to destroy our Nation to do it. America will not allow this to go on for much longer.
