Joe Biden is failing to secure the northern border as well.
According to a report from The New York Post, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) blasted the Biden Administration in a scathing letter reporting that migrant crossings this year have nearly exceeded all of last year’s crossings combined —and there has been a deadly spike in fentanyl smuggling.
“This recent influx, along with spikes in drug smuggling and lack of US Border Patrol (USBP) agent staffing, is yet another troubling example of your failure to protect and secure the homeland,” Stefanik, a top GOP House leader wrote in the letter to Mayorkas, a copy of which was obtained by The Post.
“Over the last two years, southern border states have been overwhelmed with record illegal immigration, drug smuggling, and crime that has continuously poured into the local communities,” she wrote.
“This administration has watched idly as these our states bear the brunt of disastrous and dangerous policies. Now, your refusal to address these crises has left America’s northern border communities, from Alaska to Maine, along the world’s longest international border, at the forefront of a growing threat to our national security.”
On Tuesday, Stefanik launched the Nothern Border Security Caucus and shared the event on Twitter.
I am proud to join the Northern Border Security Caucus to hold the Biden Administration accountable for bringing the #BidenBorderCrisis to the Northern Border.

Two GOP members have already filed articles of impeachment against Mayorkas for “high crimes and misdemeanors.” 251,487 migrant crossings were logged at the southern border in December and 156,274 were logged in January.
