NO REGRETS: Oakland Mayor Says She ‘Did the Right Thing’ by Warning Immigrants of ICE Raids

The anti-Trump Mayor of Oakland Libby Schaaf has no regrets over her decision to “tip-off” illegal immigrants of impending ICE raids; saying she “did the right thing” for her community and constituents.

Schaaf was speaking during a recent interview when she was asked to comment on her decision to warn local residents of potential sweeps by federal officials earlier this year; claiming “our values are not aligned with our laws.”

“I have no regrets, none. The more time goes by, the more certain I feel that I did the right thing in standing up for our community and pointing out our values are not aligned with our laws,” said Schaaf.

“This agency has gone astray and has so broken the trust, particularly in cities like mine, I believe we would all be better served to start from scratch,” she added.

CALIFORNIA CHAOS: DOJ to INVESTIGATE Oakland Mayor After ICE TIP-OFF

posted by Hannity Staff - 3.02.18

The White House confirmed this week that the Department of Justice was launching an investigation into a California mayor who tipped-off illegal immigrants of impending ICE sweeps; calling the left-wing politicians actions “outrageous,” reports the Los Angeles Times.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders called-out Oakland, California Mayor Libby Schaaf Thursday over her decision to publicly disclose imminent immigration crackdowns throughout the Bay Area, telling residents to be on the lookout for federal agents within their communities.

“I think it’s outrageous that a mayor would circumvent federal authorities and certainly put them in danger by making a move such as that,” said Sanders, adding that her actions were currently “under review” to see if she violated federal law.

“The Oakland mayor’s decision to publicize her suspicions about ICE operations further increased that risk for my officers and alerted criminal aliens — making clear that this reckless decision was based on her political agenda with the very federal laws that ICE is sworn to uphold,” said ICE’s acting director.

Oakland, like many other California municipalities, considers itself a ‘Sanctuary City,’ often shielding illegal immigrants and undocumented workers from federal authorities and border patrol agents.

CALIFORNIA CHAOS: Oakland Mayor TIPS OFF Illegal Immigrants of Future ICE RAIDS

The liberal Mayor of Oakland, California warned illegal immigrants and their families of impending raids by federal authorities over the weekend, informing them that “credible sources” have confirmed possible sweeps by the Immigrations and Customs Enforcement in the coming days.

Mayor Libby Schaaf -who signaled she’d be willing to face jail-time over her refusal to cooperate with the federal government over immigration policy- told Bay Area residents to be on the look-out for possible ICE agents, but “go about their daily lives without fear.”

“We want residents to prepare, not panic. We understand ICE has used activity rumors in the past as a tactic to create fear; our intent is for our community to go about their daily lives without fear, but resiliency and awareness,” said Schaaf.

“My priority is for the well-being and safety of all residents -particularly our most vulnerable,” she added.

The liberal Mayor’s remarks reignite a war of words between California officials and President Trump.

This week, Trump threatened to pull all Border Patrol and ICE agents from the state, saying he was getting “no help” from local governments to fight illegal immigration.
