NEW SHERIFF IN TOWN: San Francisco's New DA Puts Woke Staff on Notice

Can new District Attorney Brooke Jenkins save San Francisco?

According to a report from The New York Post, San Francisco finally has a replacement for woke DA Chesa Boudin who lost a recall election earlier this year. Brooke Jenkins, 40, has replaced Boudin and is already making waves with her inherited staff.

From The New York Post:

After being appointed by Mayor London Breed, Jenkins headed to her City Hall office for the first time on Friday for a 20-minute meeting with her staff, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Most of her 25 staff were hired by either Boudin or his predecessor, George Gascon, who is now also facing recall efforts to get him ousted from his current job as Los Angeles County’s DA.

The local paper quoted multiple people in attendance as calling the meeting “horrible,” “icy,” “uncomfortable” and even “insane.”

Jenkins told staffers she wanted a review of every single so-far-unclosed plea offer to see which of them should be withdrawn, the paper said.

She concluded by saying that none of them were being fired that day — but warning them to expect a possible “reshuffling” in the future.

The Mayor’s office will provide “basic transitional support to get [Jenkins] situated in office while she quickly staffs up.” Jenkins originally quit predecessor Chesa Boudin’s office to lead the recall effort against him. She is San Francisco’s first Latina district attorney.

From The Daily Mail:

San Francisco police report 25 murders so far this year – as 26 were reported around the same time last year.

Larceny theft, meanwhile – which represents the majority of the recent ‘smash and grabs’ – skyrocketed under Boudin, with 16,219 cases reported this year, a 16.5 percent rise from the 13,1926 reported last year.

Assaults have also been on the rise, with 11 percent with 1,138 cases reported so far this year, with rapes also up by 10 percent.
