Governor Gavin Newsom has selected Emily’s List President Laphonza Butler to replace Dianne Feinstein in the U.S. Senate after Feinstein passed away late last week. Butler, who lives in Maryland, is quickly wiping the internet for evidence of that fact.
Butler updated both her Twitter profile and her professional business bio to remove any mention of Maryland.

Her FEC filing 31 days ago lists Maryland as her residence and yet Gavin Newsom is naming Laphonza Butler to be a United States Senator representing a state she doesn’t even live in. However corrupt you think politics is, multiply it by a 1,000,000. pic.twitter.com/bQ2RVwGFYn

From The New York Post:
Butler would be the only black woman in the US Senate.
Butler, who leads a political organization that backs female candidates who support abortion rights, is also a former adviser to Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign.
She served as a labor leader with SEIU 2015, a powerful union that represents more than 400,000 long-term care workers in California, as well — though she has never held elected office.
